most known unknown silicon valley lunches
Mostly-invisible great lunch places in Silicon Valley. Cube people gotta eat.

- Sourdough Eatery - really high quality sandwiches with indescribable artwork. This place is, like, invisible from the street. Just north of downtown San Jose.
- Neto's Market And Grill - Santa Clara, CA - SAUSAGE. Lunch (i.e., a guy grilling in the parking lot) is only on Tuesdays and Fridays. It has always been too long since I last ate there.
- Donut Field - in a strip mall on El Camino in Mountain View. Giant sign says "DONUT FIELD" but they also do Salvadoran food. That is to say, the totally best pupusas. Call ahead and pick them up to go as it takes a while. The cabbage stuff and salsa stuff come in ziplock bags!
- Falafel's Drive In - San Jose waaaay down on Steven's Creek. Get the falafel, the fries, the hot sauce, and the banana milkshake. It doesn't matter if you think banana isn't the flavor you'd usually go for. GET THE BANANA.
- Rose International Market in Mountain View (around the corner from my place: Castro & El Caminoish). Persian place. Best kabobs. In the world. Go to the cashier and say the following: "1 chicken, 1 kubideh, 1 toe-may-toe." Next walk outside to the back corner of the building and wait until a man calls your number. Eat it up. (And next time get the ghormeh sabzi.)

well, eh-hem, if I could get a little advance notice next time you're around...
BTW, I'll be in Austin next week for work--let us have a lunch!
